Mary Sherwood, 90, of Kalkaska, died Thu, Apr 22, 1999, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Sherwood was born in Bryant, IN, on Feb 1, 1909, to Edward and Martha Parrish Bennett. On Dec 7, 1946, in Kalkaska, she married Edward Sherwood, who preceded her in death on Jun 25, 1979.
Mrs. Sherwood was employed as a licensed practical nurse in Howell prior to her retirement, and moved to Kalkaska in 1979.
For over 30 years, she was a licensed minister of the Church of the Nazarene, and served as the associate pastor of the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene, where she was involved with Christian outreach. She was a member of the WCTU, and enjoyed crafts, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are sons Clarence (Terri) Long and James Long, both of Kalkaska, and Jerry (Ella) Long of Cadillac; daughters Pearl (Wendell) Pluff and Esther (Allen) Rich, both of Battle Creek; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Sons Leroy and Bennie preceded her in death.
Funeral services were April 26 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Pastor David McCool officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
