Mrs. Martha M. (Dolly) Anderson, 79, of Fife Lake died early this morning at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born Mar 9, 1885 at Walton Junction, the daughter of Levi and Tena Williams. On Jan 1, 1902 she was married to John H. Anderson who from 1902 until 1922 was a brakeman for the Pere Marquette and Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroads in Traverse City. From 1922 until Mr. Anderson’s retirement in 1939, the Andersons lived in Grand Rapids, where the husband was a baggageman on Grand Rapids to Mackinaw City Railroad run. After Mr. Anderson’s retirement the couple moved to a farm near Fife Lake. Mr. Anderson died on Nov 28, 1959. A son died in infancy and three grandchildren also preceded Mrs. Anderson in death.
Surviving are: two sons, Leo of Grand Rapids and William H. of Fife Lake; four grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wed at Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. Rev. Lester Priest officiating, assisted by Rev. Max Gladding with burial in Walton Junction Cemetery.
