Marjorie L Slentz was surrounded by the love of her family when she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sun, May 15, 2005.
She was born in Bluffton, IN, to Fred and Mary Rickle Bennett on Aug 7, 1923. She married Paul Slentz on Oc t4, 1941, and moved to Richmond while he was serving in the Army during WWII.
Marjorie worked s an aide in preschool and physical therapy at Green Acres School and retired from there in 1980 to become a full-time grandma (lovingly known as Nan). She was named Mother of the Year in 1987 by The Graphic Newspaper and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was a member of First Baptist Church and SWAC.
Marjorie’s love and passion for Christ was seen in every aspect of her life, and He used her to touch many souls. Unselfish in everything that she did, she constantly put others’ needs ahead of her own. Marjorie lit up the world around her with kindness, compassion and love for family, friends and strangers alike.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ada Penrod of Bluffton, IN; and brother, Maurice Baumgartner of Ashley, IN.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Earl Schenck of Richmond; granddaughters, Abby and Erin Schenck; twin sister, Mary Bake of Richmond; nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Thu, May 19, 2005, in First Baptist Church, 1601 S. A St., with Rev. James Spon and Rev. Phill Hodgkin officiating. Interment will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Wed, May 18, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary.
