Mrs. Marjorie A. Ruttan, 93, of Kalkaska, died Thu, Dec 2, 1993, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Ruttan had been a lifelong resident of the area, and attended Grand Traverse County Normal School and Ferris State University. She taught at the Lannin and Excelsior Rural Schools in Kalkaska County. She was a member of the New Life Assembly, the W.C.T.U., and the Farm Bureau.
Mrs. Ruttan was born in Williamsburg on Jun 15, 1900, to Samuel and Sylvia Brenneman Chaney. She was married on Jun 15, 1923, in Traverse City, to Ward Ruttan who preceded her in death on Dec 5, 1981.
Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Vernon W. Ruttan of St. Paul, MN and Melvin L. Ruttan of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Beverly Gustke of Loudon, TN, and Roberta Turner of Copperas Cove, TX, and Colin Chaney of Ypsilanti; two sisters, Nellie Raff and Alice Weimer both of Traverse city; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sun, Dec 5, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Scott Rhoades officiated. Burial was in Clearwater Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
