Marion Eugene Phelps, 85, died Jul 3, 1994 at Kaiser Hospital, Fontana, CA.
Mr. Phelps was born Sep 23, 1908 at Darragh, son of Eugene and Edythe (Parmalee) Phelps. On Aug 17, 1959, he married Maria "Martha" Castaneda.
He was a Kalkaska rural school teacher and assistant postmaster before moving to Detroit where he was fire chief at Willow Run Bomber Plant, moving to California in 1957 where he worked for Northrup Corp. as safety engineer and as a consultant for J.P.L. lab in San Diego retiring in 1983.
He is survived by his wife Maria of Thousand Palms, CA, one son, Jack Phelps of San Diego, two daughters; Jill Sims of Texas and Merryjean Harris of San Diego; one brother William R. Phelps of Kalkaska; three sisters: Kay Hallberg of Traverse City, Gloria Spalding of Rockford and Alice Babcock of Kalkaska and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Jean SB. Phelps.
Funeral services were held Jul 8 at Palm Springs Mortuary with interment in Palm Springs Mausoleum, Cathedral City, CA.
