Marie Nichols, 86, passed away at her home on Fri, Feb 11, 2005, in the arms of her beloved Jesus.
She was born Dec 11, 1918, in River Rouge and was married to Joseph S Nichols on Jun 27, 1936, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Marie and Joe lived in Rochester Hills until Joe's retirement in 1981, then made their winter home in Homosassa, FL and summers were spent at their family home on Finn Lake in Mancelona.
In 1999, Marie and Joe moved permanently back to their summer home on the lake. Marie was a member of St Anthony Catholic Church and enjoyed her active life as a homemaker, entertaining friends and family, and baking wonderful cakes and cookies, especially for her grandchildren during family visits.
Marie is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph Nichols; daughter and son in law, Mary Anne and Claude Roux; grandsons, Stephen Roux and granddaughter in law, Karna of Rockwall, TX, David Roux and granddaughter in law Shannon of Garland, TX, Joseph Roux of Quinlan, TX, and Christopher Roux of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Angela Roux and Nathan Roux, and great granddaughter in law, Charlene; great step grandchildren, Tim and Samantha Sykes; great great grandson, Dalton Roux; and great great step granddaughter Alyssa; brother ans sister in law, Stanley and Mary Nichols of Spring Hill, FL; loving nieces and nephews, good daughters, family, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Anthony and Frances Kunkowsky; sister, Gladys (Bert) Richardson; and brother, Luke (Bernice).
A mass will be held Wed, Feb 16, at 11 am at St Anthony Catholic Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
