Margaret Grockau, 77, of Kalkaska passed away peacefully Jun 14, 2002.
She was born Sep 15, 1924, in Yugoslavia, and came to the United States with her family when she was 4 years old. She married Harold M Grockau Aug 30, 1947. They raised their five children in St Clair Shores. Margaret and Harold vacationed at Manistee Lake in Kalkaska since 1955 and made it their permanent home when they retired in 1983.
Margaret was the rock of her family and loved having them close. Her devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother was limitless. She was a pure joy to be around and kept her sense of humor right up until the end. Margaret possessed a wide array of knowledge of the simple pleasure sin life. These gifts of the heart that she gave to her family and friends will be cherished forever.
Survivors include children Kurt (Arlene) Grockau of Traverse City, Sandy Grockau (Dave Flansburgh) of St Clair Shores, Karl (Robin) Grockau of Bellaire, Keith (Lora) Grockau of Rogers City, Kent (Pam Bellini) of St Clair Shores, and John Erker of St Clair Shores; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Kristopher, Rachelle, Jake, Samantha, Taryn, Mathew, and Deiga; brother Rudolph (Pam) Wedra of Lake Placid, FL; asiter, Marie (Dennis) Hyble of Port St Lucie, FL; and her beloved "granddogs."
Margaret's husband Harold preceded her in death Apr 21, 1987; and grandson Eric Jun 24, 1997.
A memorial service will be at St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska, on Sat, Jun 22, 2002 at 11 am. Memorials may be directed to the church.
