Clous, Margaret Louise

In Memory of
Margaret Louise (Hamilton) Clous

BIRTH: 19 Jun 1952 Traverse City, Grand Traverse, Michigan

DEATH: 23 Dec 2019 Bellevue, Larimer, Colorado

Margaret “Muggs” Louise Clous left this life too soon on Dec 23, 2019 at her home in her cabin on Crystal Mountain in Bellvue, CO at the age of 67. She was born Jun 19, 1952 to James and Katherine Hamilton in Traverse City, MI. She was the youngest of three children. Margaret met her future husband George Clous while in high school in Traverse City when she was fifteen years old. George quickly began calling her the nickname of Muggs shortly after they met. She has been known by Muggs ever since. George and Muggs dated until the spring of 1970 when they were married on Apr 18. They welcomed their first son Todd in Oct 1970 and a second son Troy, the following year in Aug 1971. George and Muggs started their life together as family in Northern Michigan where they spent many years living with great friends in Traverse City. In 1980 they decided to move their family to Colorado where they had friends and drove across country to Loveland, CO and have been Coloradoan’s ever since.

Over the years Muggs spent time working for National Cash Register (NCR) in Fort Collins, teaching at Stove Prairie School in Bellvue, and Macy’s department store in Loveland until her retirement in 2014. Through her time spent at those different jobs, she made life long friends and has been able to continue to enjoy these relationships into retirement.

George and Muggs quickly fell in love with the Rocky Mountains and bought property in the early 80s up Buckhorn Canyon west of Loveland on Crystal Mountain. They spent the next several years building their future home and cabin knowing that they wanted a life spent in nature. In 1997 they moved to their cabin and have been living there full-time and off-grid since. One of the greatest joys of Muggs life was being a grandmother and she was given four grandchildren who she loved seeing and spending time with when she was able. The rest of her days were spent enjoying the mountains, wildlife and the beauty that surrounded her as well as time spent with friends and family whenever she was able to see them.

Muggs is preceded in death by her parents James and Katherine Hamilton of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her husband George of Bellvue, CO; son, Todd Clous of Tucson, AZ; son Troy Clous, wife Karen and their children, Kingston and Jameson of Gypsum, CO; her brothers Jim and Karl Hamilton of Michigan; brother in law Gary Clous and wife Amy of Michigan and many other loved family and friends.

The family requests that in Muggs honor that there be no monetary memorial but to please remember her loving spirit and carry on her kind and loving nature in all of your daily lives. A celebration of life will be taking place in the spring or summer of 2020, likely in the mountains that she loved dearly. We love you Muggs. Peace and love to you and your loving spirit forever.
