Margaret K Sieting, 97, of Kalkaska, a former teacher and homemaker, passed away Wed., Nov 1, 2000, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Margaret was a resident of Kalkaska County all her life. She was born Aug 31, 1903, in Clearwater Township, the oldest daughter of D. Reid and Estella (Snell) Kirkpatrick.
After graduating from Rapid City High School, she attended County Normal. She then furthered her education at Ferris State College and Central Michigan University. She taught mostly early elementary grades for 25 years prior to her retirement. Children were her delight.
Margaret was married to Arthur R. Sieting in Rapid City on Jul 15, 1925. They lived on a farm in Orange Township for 30 years, then moved to Kalkaska, where Mr. Sieting had the State Farm Insurance office. He passed away Jul 7, 1969.
Surviving are son Arthur Rex (Nona) Sieting of Sandusky; grandchildren Arthur (Nancy) of Lapeer, Kathy (Garth) Bulgrien of Ephrata, PA; Karen (Tim) Bittles of Booneville, MS; and Kris Sieting of Lapeer; seven great grandchildren; brother, Walter (Aline) Kirkpatrick of Bellaire; a niece; three nephews; several cousins; and special friend Lola Worthington.
She was preceded in death by brothers David and Frederick Kirkpatrick and sisters Irene Koepele and Katherine Kirkpatrick.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and worked in the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Kalkaska Historical Society and the WCTU.
Funeral services were held Nov 4 at Calvary Baptist Church; Pastor Wesley Rowe and Pastor Ray Luke officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
