Mrs. Margaret E. McCarty, 80, of Gaylord, formerly of Kalkaska, died Wed, Dec 2, 1998, at Tendercare of Gaylord.
Mrs. McCarty formerly lived in Lapeer, where she and her husband operated McCarty's Dry Cleaners. She moved to Kalkaska County 25 years ago, and made her home here until moving to Gaylord. She was a retired registered nurse, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Mrs. McCarty was born in Midland on May 18, 1918, daughter of the late Frederick and Clara Froede Keilitz. She marred Charles McCarty in Midland on May 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov 27, 1978.
Surviving are daughters Linda (Bob) Passmore of Gaylord and Lorna (Bill) Chambers of Lapeer; brother Lawrence Keilitz of Midland; sister Lenora Eesley of FL; and grandchildren Lori Gupta, Michelle Edwards and Jason North.
Funeral services were held Dec 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church; Rev. Ted Turanski officiated. Cremation followed services.
