Manuel Harger, 68, of Rapid City, died Sat, Mar 30, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Harger had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, and prior to 1982, had been employed as a tool maker at Key Two in Elk Rapids. He served in the U.S. Army during WW2, and was a former member of the American Legion Post in Munising. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, and making jewelry.
Mr. Harger was born in Monough, WV on Jun 12, 1927, to Manuel and Alverda McCloy Harger. On Aug 13, 1977, in Kalkaska, he was married to Betty Etcher who survives.
Also surviving are four stepsons, Joe Etcher of East Jordan, David Etcher of Rudyard, Clyde Etcher of Saginaw, and Barney Etcher of Petoskey; three stepdaughters, Donna Liski of Boyne City, Marlene Safko of Rock Ledge, FL, and Mary Etcher of Mt. Clemens; one brother, Walter Harger of Rapid City; one sister, Geraldine Harger of Rapid City; and nine grandchildren.
Two half brothers, Ruben and Lonnie Harger, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tue, Apr 2, 1996, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. E. Dan Johnson, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Clearwater Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Military services were conducted under the auspices of Land O'Lakes Post 8684 VFW.
