Mrs. Mamie D. Wells, 82, of Kalkaska, died Wed, Apr 15, 1992 at the home of her niece in Traverse City.
Mrs. Wells had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, and had been employed by Consumers Power Company for over 30 years, prior to her retirement in 1974. She was a former director of the National Trout Festival Queen Pageant, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge and The Peoples Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Mrs. Wells was born in Kalkaska County on Feb 15, 1910, daughter of the late Mose and Martha Parnel Donathan. She was married to Rodney Wells, in Flint, on Oct 17, 1926. He preceded her in death on Nov 21, 1971.
Surviving are two grandsons, Duane and Jeffrey VandenBosch both of Kalkaska; one granddaughter, Mrs. Diann Vipond of Kalkaska; one brother William Donathan of Fife Lake; one sister, Nora Peterson of Rhinelander, WI; and seven great grandchildren.
One daughter, Ellen VandenBosch; four brothers, Christopher, Lonnie, Alva, and Mose Donathan; and four sisters, Eva Donathan, Sadie Donathan, Bertha Gray, and Anna Campbell, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Sat, Apr 18, 1992, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges, pastor of the Peoples Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
