Mabel Rose Archer of Lansing, formerly of Kalkaska, 70, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed into God' loving presence on Wed morning, Aug 16, 2006, surrounded by her husband and daughter, Cheryl, at her home, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and diabetes.
Mabel was born Aug 9, 1936, in Portland, a child of Eloise (Chartrand) and George Smith. She married James in May 1960, and worked at factory jobs and as a nurse's aid, while raising five children.
Mabel leaves behind her beloved husband, James; children, Cheryl (Paul) Mick of Lansing, Deborah (Steven) Sokolovic of Turnersville, NJ, Mike (Kim) of Bay City, Dennis of Holt, and Tim (Sara) of Duluth, MN; 15 grandchildren, two of whom were especially close; and many cousins; Melissa (Graham) Wright of Newark, DE; and Paul (PJ) Mick of Lansing.
A special thank you for the loving care of mom's aids, Missy, Hidi, Kim, her nurse, Elaine, and all the staff of Visiting Nurse Hospice.

Funeral services were to be held at noon on Sat, Aug 19. The family received friends Sat, Aug 19, until time of service at Chapel in The Pines Funeral Home, 101 W. Jolly Rd, Lansing.
