Mabel Claire Kelley passed away at Lincoln hospital, Detroit, February 3, 1947, after a brief illness.
She was born April 14, 1885 to Luther and Elizabeth Aldridge in Owendale, Huron County, Mich. In 1890 the family moved to Fife Lake where they settled and homesteaded 80 acres in Springfield township and there she spent her childhood. At the age of 18 she went to Kenosha, Wis., and there was employed by the Hii Boat Line, where she met and was united in marriage to John Kelley of Boston, Massachusetts on June 25, 1908. To thisĀ union were born several children, five living and two preceding her in death. Surviving are, Mrs. Helen Atkins of Cheboygan, John and Kathleen of Detroit, Tom of Fife Lake, Eugene of Buckley and four grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Naomi Tolbert of Brighton, Mrs. Martha Snyder of Fife Lake, Wilbur Aldridge of Flint and several near relatives and a host of friends.
She spent most of her married life at Fife Lake, moving to Detroit in 1943 and living there until her death.
She was a member of the Fife Lake Methodist Church. Also the Fife Lake Gleaners and the Arbutus Rebekah Lodge.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel C. Kelley, 61, resident of Fife Lake township, Kalkaska county, 35 years, was held at 2 Thursday at Fife Lake Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kelley died Sunday night at Detroit, where she and her husband had moved three years ago.
Mrs. Kelley was born at Owendale, Huron county. In 1909 she was married to John Kelley at Kenosha, Wis. Two years later they moved to Fife Lake Township.
Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Mrs. H.E. Atkins of Cheboygan and Miss Kathleen of Detoit; three sons, John Jr. of Detoit, Thomas of Fife Lake and Eugene of Buckley; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Snyder of Fife Lake and Mrs. Naomi Tolbert of Brighton, and four grandchildren.
Burial will be in Clark Cemetery, Springfield township, Kalkaska County.
