In loving memory of Mabel A. Guy, 77, of Rapid City, who went home to be with her Lord Oct 12, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
She was born in Grants Pass, OR, Jun 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Andrew and Iola Hevel Deater.
On Aug 4, 1946, she was united in marriage with Jack Guy.
Mabel had resided in Rapid City for the past 54 years, and had worked in the cafeteria at the Rapid City schools.
She and husband Jack were charter members of Martyr's Memorial Baptist Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church) in Rapid City. Over the years, Mabel served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and brought many children to Sunday School. She remained an active member of the church until her death.
She was well-loved by her church family and will be sorely missed.
Mabel's hobbies included gardening and growing roses.
She is survived by husband Jack or Rapid City; daughters, Carol (Serge) Cousin and Barbara (Tony) Hefner, all of Rapid City; brothers, Harvey (Helen) Deater and Harold "Bud" (Erma) Deater, all of Rapid City; three grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Her parents and son Dickie, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Oct 15 at Martyr's Memorial Baptist Church; her pastor, Kirk Coffia, officiated.
Burial was in Clearwater Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Arrangements were done by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
