Lyle Elwin Diebel, 82, of Kalkaska, passed away on Thu, Jun 8, 2006, with his family by his side at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Centers Long Term Care. 

Born on Jan 11, 1924, in Flint, the son of the late John and Eva (Flanagin) Diebel. 

Lyle married Loraine W. Wayland on Apr 2, 1964, in Flint.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Pacific during WWII. Lyle worked for the Internal Revenue Service. He had a love of architecture which included designing homes, wood working, gardening, and visiting family in Florida. 

A resident of Kalkaska since 1994, Lyle and Loraine moved from Frankenmuth. Lyle was a member of the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Lions Club in Frankenmuth. 

Surviving Lyle is his wife, Loraine of 42 years; daughter, Susan Marie Diebel of Flint; stepson, Stephen Allan Wayland of Flint; granddaughter, Heather Louise (Brian) Rasmussen of Burton; brothers, Ray (Marion) Diebel and Robert (Elaine) Diebel, all of Melbourne, FL; and nephews, John and Ernie Diebel. 

Preceding Lyle in death were his parents; and his son, Michael Eugene Diebel. 

Cremation has taken place at Lyle's request. A memorial service will be held on Wed, Jun 14, at 11 am at the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Jerald O Batterbee will be officiating.
