Lyle E Dykhuizen Sr, born May 22, 1916, is now again dancing with his beloved "Mommy," his wife, Anne, who preceded him into God's kingdom.
Lyle "Dyk" passed from this life into eternity Dec 26, 2000.
You would have to look long and hard to find a more devoted husband and family man. He took care of his wife and kids through 37 years of her multiple sclerosis, the last 18 years of which she was bedridden. Lyle exemplified servant-hearted leadership in his service to his Lord, country, community and family. It was easy to observe the strength of his character through his commitment to responsibility, integrity, and love.
His children, Chuck (Barbara) Dykhuizen, Sylvia (Terry) Van Heymingen, Lyle Jr, and Curt (Sue) Dykhuizen carry good genes and loving memories of the "good stuff" of life.
Lyle liked to sing. He sang in the Cascade Christian Church Choir, and even directed it for a time, and at some of the piano bars around town. Maybe some of the best times were singing in a quartet with two of his sons and cousin, Sy Dykhouse.
Dyk and Dyk's Service Station at the bridge in Cascade was Lyle and Sy's for many years. Lyle left the station and worked in construction for some time and finally retired from General Motors after 18 years.
In addition to his four children and their spouses. Lyle leaves fond memories wish a sister Donna (Al) Diebel of AZ; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara and Mima; brother, Charles (Junior); and grandson Scott Dykhuizen.
Funeral services were Dec 29 in the Chapel of Cascade Christian Church. Interment was in Cascade Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the music department of Cascade Christian Church.
The family was served by Metcalf & Johnkoff Funeral Service.
