Lydia Rosella Becker, 97, of Kalkaska passed away Oct 22, 2001 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. She was born on Dec 4, 1903, in Fort Wayne, IN to D.C. and Florence (Feigh) Nebro.
Mrs. Becker married Virgil Robert Becker on Nov 14, 1926. She worked for F.W. Woolworth dime Stores in Fort Wayne until she retired in Dec 1965 and moved to Kalkaska. She had been a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ since Dec 4, 1969. She loved her family and enjoyed the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by twin daughters, Marjory L (Arthur) Elkins of Mancelona and Phyllis J Birchfield of Kalkaska; grandchildren Kelly (Ruthann) Birchfield of Mancelona and Charlene (John) Orman of Kalkaska; nine great grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews. Daughter Phyllis Birchfield was her caregiver for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, in 1969; one great grandson, William Mark Birchfield; sister, Christine Mettert in 1985; brother Louie John Nebro in 1962; and son in law, William Birchfield in 1981.
Funeral services were held Oct 28 at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Jeff Badgero officiating. Interment was at Remington Cemetery, in Remington, IN.
