Louis "Clayton" Newton, 71, of North Port, FL, formerly of Bradenton, FL, passed away May 18, 2002, at home. He was born Oct 25, 1930 in Rapid City, and lived in Kalkaska.
He moved to Bradenton in 1989 from Flint. Mr. Newton was a meat cutter for 31 years with Hamady Food Company, retiring in 1989 for health reasons. He was a member of UFCW Local #539 and the Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his wife Patricia; sons, Thomas (Laura), Michael (Susan) and Dr. Steven Newton, all of FL; half sister, Glenda (Karl) Bacon of CA; special friends Russell and Dorothy Phillips, Larry and Beverly Streeter, and Freida Safford, all of MI; Delania Prater and Rose Smeltzer of FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services were May 28, 2002, at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice, FL. The Rev. Michael Wilson officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Arrangements were made by Covell Cremation and Funeral Center in Bradenton.
