Lt. Col. Lonzo H. Turner (U.S. Air Force, retired), 67, of 5715 Esperato Dr, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Lt. Col. Turner was a native of Rocking County, NC and had been a resident of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze for the past 21 years. He was a member of the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, a former U.S. Air Force Pilot, a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired employee of Kev Ford Inc.
Survivors include his widow, Montine Jean Turner of Pensacola; five daughters, Eunice E. Crudele of Cornwall, NY; Mrs. Jeffrey Kage of Fairbanks, Alas; Patricia Gore, Donna Cobia and Renee Turner all of Pensacola; three sons, Stevenson Thomas Welch of Pensacola, Lonnie Turner of Rapids, WI; Douglas H. Turner of Jacksonville; a brother, John Turner of High Point, NC; three sisters, Nannie Turner Price and Nina Tyalor, both of Reidsville, NC; Mrs. Channing Post of Tampa; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday at the Aviation Memorial Chapel, Pensacola Naval Air Station.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Froehlich, Sam Taylor, Bill Mason, Jim Williams, Roy Campbell, and Toy Mothershed.
Active pallbearers will be the U.S. Air Force Service Personnel of Eglin Air Force Base.
Burial will be in the Barrancas National Cemetery with U.S. Air Force military honors at the grave.
Fisher-Pou Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
