Linda Deloras Garrett, 74, went to be with the Lord on Wed, Jan 12, 2022 at IU Health Blackford County Hospital.
She was born in Hartford City on Jan 21, 1947 to Charles Robert Hornbaker and Bette Deloras (Adams) Hornbaker. Both of her parents preceded her in death.
Linda graduated from Hartford City High School in 1965. She married Paul Stanley Garrett on Jul 19, 1969.
She was a member of Calvary Christian Lighthouse Church. She retired from Blackford County School where she worked in food services.
Linda made friends everywhere she went and she never met a stranger. She had a huge heart and loved helping others, she volunteered at IU Health Blackford County Auxiliary, Miller’s Merry Manor and at the Blackford County Senior Center. She loved being around others and spending time with her grandchildren was the biggest blessing she could think of. She was often referred to as the “BINGO Lady” and she enjoyed, crocheting, working cross stitch and going to Cowboy Church. Linda also sold AVON for many years. She tended to have a stubborn streak, but her smile and laugh were contagious.
Linda will be sadly missed by her husband, Paul S Garrett of Hartford City; sons, Robert R (wife, Zera) Garrett of Hartford City and Michael S. (wife, Christina) Garrett of Hartford City; grandchildren, Nicholas Garrett, Mackenzie Garrett, Caulier Garrett, Jonathan Setser, Jessica Setser, Izbela Phillips, Rosie Phillips and Jazzy Phillips; great grandchild, Levi Garrett; sisters, Rita M Yeakle of Jonesboro and Kay E (husband, Larry) Bell of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her infant sister, Connie Ann Hornbaker.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Mon, Jan 24, 2022 at Calvary Christian the Lighthouse Church, 2101 N Walnut St, Hartford City. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 2 pm Mon, Jan 24, 2022 at Calvary Christian Lighthouse Church.
The family recommends that mask be worn during the service and visitation for Linda.
