Lila Marta Wiegert of Oscoda, previously of Kalkaska, passed away on Nov 15, after a short illness, at the age of 89. She was born in Kalkaska and moved to lower Michigan in 1959, then to Las Vegas, NV in 1972. The past three years she lived in Oscoda with her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Wiegert; parents, John and Mary (White) Hamilton; her brothers, Floyd Hamilton, Bobbie and Clyde, who died in infancy; sisters, Orpha Hicking, Ella Main, Ada Campbell, and Hattie; and two great grandchildren, twins Jessica and Julia Jones; and the father of her daughters, L Clyde Matthews.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Elliott and Jacqueline Matthews; two grandchildren, Scott (Barb) Elliott of Albuquerque and Julie (Jeff) Jones of Oscoda; four great grandchildren, Cullen Elliott, Maireag Elliott, Justine Jones, and Jayme Jones; two nephews, Robert Anderson of Kalkaska; three nieces, Bernice Zaweweski of Grand Rapids, Yvonne Peck and Mona Mae Kiel of Kalkaska; sister in law, Nellie Hamilton of Kalkaska and special nephews, Leo Sieting of Kalkaska and George Shanaman of FL, along with many great nieces and nephews.
Cremation was handled by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with an assist by Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. A graveside memorial will be announced at a future date.
