Levi Junior Austin, 66, of rural Harrison, died Sun, Mar 3, 1991 at his home.
He was a resident of Clare county since 1986 after moving from Lansing. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed as a maintenance man at Michigan State University. He served in the Army during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion Post #404 in Harrison. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Born on Apr 25, 1924, in Lincoln, he was the son of the late Ruben E. and Myrtie (Kirby) Austin. On Jun 27, 1949, in Lansing, he married Alice Cross, who survives.
Also surviving are one son Junior L. Austin of Orlando, FL; four daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Drabik of Kalkaska, Loretta Stickney of Mancelona, Mrs. Marvin (Donna) Robbins of Harrison, and Mrs. Eric (Connie) Thornell of Lansing; and Lois Crane of Newberry; 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Russell Austin, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Wed, Mar 6, 1991 at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska, Rev. Dan Davis officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska. Committal was under the auspices of the Kalkaska V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.
