Lester John Kelley, 63, of Grand Rapids and Detroit, died Fri morning at Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Battle Creek after an illness of several years. He was born September 7, 1911 in Fife Lake to Mable and John Kelley and married Lucylle A. Haskin in May 31, 1935. He joined the CB’s in the Navy during WWII, from September 4, 1943 to November 9, 1945. In Detroit he owned Kelley’s Wood Products. He moved to Fife Lake in May 1973, later moving to Grand Rapids. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife on May 2, 1973. Surviving are two brothers, Thomas and Gene of Grandn Rapids: one step-mother, Loretta Loveless of Buckley; two half-brothers, Robert of Grand Rapids and James of Manton; two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Kathleen) Smigelski of Detroit and Mrs. Earl (Helen) Atkins of Cheboygan; a half sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Rose) Rowan of Mobile, AL and nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law and many other relatives. Funeral services will be at 2pm, Mon at the Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley, Pastor C. Robert Stacy will officiate. Interment will be in Clark Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
