Leslie D. McCool, 92, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, died Mon, May 21, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. McCool worked for four and a half years for the Packard Motor Company, and was then employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Michigan Department of Transportation for 39 years before his retirement in 1970. He was a member of the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene and a Life Member of East Bay Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed photography.
He was born in Kalkaska County on Mar 29, 1909, the son of David and Addie Graves McCool. On Oct 29, 1931, in Kalkaska he married Nela King. She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son Rev. David (Marilyn) McCool of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Susanne Hunkin, Kirsten Lathrop, and Amy Ritenburgh; and eight great grandchildren.
Five sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were May 25 at the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Uele Hunkin officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemtery, Kalkaska.
