Leroy F. Books, of Cadillac, MI, passed away Sat, Jun 16, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was 90 years old.
Leroy was born to Fred and Martha (Schrader) Books on Jun 25, 1921, in Chippewa Falls, WI. He married Winona Vanderbrook on Oct 9, 1948, in Mount Clemens.
He served in the US Navy during WWII. He later worked as the owner of Zepher Service Station in Cadillac for several years and retired from Brooks and Perkins in Cadillac in 1983.
He enjoyed working with his grandson, Rusty, in his metal fabrication shop in Cadillac for 12 years. He also enjoyed gardening and doing puzzles. What he loved most was being around family. He was alos known for his sense of humor.
Mr. Books is survived by his daughter Penny (Douglas) Paddock of Manton; two sons, Laroy Books and Patricia Hawk of Cheyenne, WY, and Duane (Marlene) Books of Cadillac; his grandchildren, Robert (Cathy) Heyd of Manton, Lee (Marie) Todd of Cadillac, Teri Hawk and Robert Hawk of Cheyenne, WY; nephews Billy and Danny Books of St. Clair Shores, and several grat-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winona; a grandson Shane Heyd; and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Thur, Jun 21, 2012, at the Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake starting at 11am. Officiating will be Jay Julian from the Lifehouse Church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home, Manton.
