Mrs. Leone K. (Anderson) Kirkpatrick was born August 27, 1911 to Eric and Nina Isted Anders at their rural home in Kalkaska Township, Kalkaska County.
She passed away, after an extended illness, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center on Oct 17, 1993, at the age of 82 years.
Leone graduated from Kalkaska High School, May 19, 1928. She attended Kalkaska County Normal School the following year and taught rural schools in Kalkaska County. Leone secured her teaching degree from Western Michigan University and taught fourth grade in the Kalkaska Public Schools, retiring after a total of 42 years. Her teaching was distinguished by her great personal interest in each and every student.
On Jun 20, 1953, she married J. Frederick Kirkpatrick of Kalkaska. Throughout her life she always had time to help a needy neighbor or friend. She loved to travel. She was an active member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, a member of the W.C.T.U., Historical Society, Birthday Club, and after retiring, the Retired Teachers Association.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sister in law, Margaret Sieting of Kalkaska; and brother in law and wife, Walter and Aline Kirkpatrick of Bellaire; several cousins, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tue, Oct 19, 1993, at the Kalkaska Church of Christ. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or to the Kalkaska Church of Christ.
