Leonard E. Wenzel, 98, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Oct 28, 1991 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Wenzel moved to Kalkaska in 1955 from Livonia. Prior to his retirement he was a very active builder and mason in the Farmington, Redford, Livonia, Grosse Ile, and Dearborn areas. Mr. Wenzel was a member for 47 years of the Brick Layers Union, and also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Golden Years Club of Kalkaska. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was active in the Kalkaska County Commission on Aging.
Mr. Wenzel was born in Listowel, Ontario on Dec 2, 1892 to Leonard and Barbara Kammer Wenzel. He was married to Gladys MacFarland on Nov 25, 1917 in Detroit. She died on Oct 21, 1971. On Sep 13, 1976, in Kalkaska, he was married to Ella Schultz who preceded him in death on Feb 17, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Claus of Kalkaska, and Marilyn Edick of Garden Grove, CA; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
One daughter, Janice Worden, one brother and five sisters, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Fri, Nov 1, 1991 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Ted Turanski, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
