Leon R. “Onie” Blatt, Brown City, age 83, died March 25, 2011. He was born July 23, 1927 in Flint to Roy and Beatrice (Clapsaddle) Blatt. Onie attended Omard Country School. He married Erdine McLarty on June 26, 1948. Onie retired from General Motors after 30 years at the Buick Plant in Flint. He had also worked at Yale Wollen Mills and did some crop farming. In his younger years he enjoyed playing Blooper Ball and Baseball for many years. He was a long time member of the Brown City United Methodist Church where he had served as a Trustee. Onie is survived by his wife of 62 years Erdine Blatt, three daughters, Vickie (Tom) Goherty, Pam (Gary) Willer, and Deb (Eugene) Ford, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jenifer, three siblings, Bill Blatt, Jean Grant, and Keith Blatt. A gathering for family and friends will be Sunday from 4 – 8 pm and Monday from 2 – 8 pm at Carmen Funeral Home in Brown City. Funeral services wil be held 11am Tuesday at the Brown City United Methodist Church. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers and burial will be in Omard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to United Hospice in Marlette.
