Leo T. Nelson, 82, of Porterville, CA, died Thu, Dec 14, 2000, in Porterville.
Leo was born in Traverse City Jun 15, 1918.
He had been a resident of Porterville for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Leo was the owner of Leo's Market in Lodi for 30 years, and informally known as the mayor of Lodi. He was director of the Board of Equalization for 10 years in Kalkaska. He was a sculptor and a wood carver.
Leo is survived by his wife Erma of Porterville; sons Gerald of California and David of Michigan; daughters Linda Johnson and Patricia Miller, both of California; sister Annbell Boersma of Michigan; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Following cremation at Myers Crematory, graveside services were held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Dec 23.
