Leo Dean Lannom, 74, of Kalkaska, died Thu, Apr 18, 1996, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Lannom, formerly of Chesterfield, MI, had resided in Kalkaska since Apr 1995. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and in 1982, was honored by Greyhound Lines with the "safe driver award" for completing 30 years of service and 2.8 million miles without a chargeable accident. In retirement Mr. Lannom continued his active involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, totaling over 20 years.
Mr. Lannom was born in Marion, IL on Feb 24, 1922, to Albert and Bessie (Hindman) Lannom. In 1945, in Detroit, he married Theresa Murphy who preceded him in death in 1989.
He is survived by his cherished friend, Millie Frydel of Kalkska; two daughters, Eileen Tennor of Columbia, MD, and Patricia Lannom (M Sgt. USAF) of Offutt, AFB, Omaha, NE; two sons, Michael JohnLannom of Clarkston and Joseph Lannom of Houghton; four sisters, Ruby Curvin of Largo, FL, Eileen Banker of Hemet, CA, Jean Karlsson of Ash Flat, AR, and Mary Emma Kelly of Marion, IL; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Roscoe, and Bobby.
Funeral services were held Sun, Apr 21, 1996, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. Rev. Ted Turanksi officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
