Mrs. Laura H. Wood, 93, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Nov 18, 1996, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Unit.
Mrs. Wood moved to Kalkaska County in 1983 from Kalamazoo. Prior to her retirement she worked as a nurse at the Kalamazoo State Hospital and Bronson and Borgess Medical Centers. She was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ. the Paul Bunyon Barracks 403 Auxiliary and a past treasurer and president of Kal-An Barracks of WWI Veterans Auxiliary No 3071.
Mrs. Wood was born in Bad Axe Oct 3, 1903, to Irvine and Elizabeth Ludlow Herrington. On Oct 3, 1947, in Kalamazoo she married Emerson B. Wood, who preceded her in death on Aug 3, 1986.
Surviving are son Herrington A. Carlton of Aurora, CO; step daughter Mrs. Lincoln (Dolores) Heft of New Windsor, NY; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
One son preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Nov 21 at the Spencer Church of Christ. Michael Steere officiated. Cremation followed services.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
