Larry Lee Ehle, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy (Ida Proctor) Ehle of 24 Windsor Terrace, died at 1:30am today in a local hospital, the first child during the current measles epidemic to die of the disease or complications arising from it.
A post-mortem examination showed post measles encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain, as the immediate cause of death.
Larry came down with measles about two weeks ago. His condition became critical about 11pm yesterday and he was taken to the hospital. His father was reached by police at American Marsh Pumps Inc. just as he was leaving work and went to the hospital.
Besides his parents, Larry is survived by a brother, Everett, and a half brother Charles, both at home, and a half sister, Mrs. Max (Margaret) Ruble of Beadle Lake; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ehle of Emmett Township, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lula Proctor living near Cadillac.
