Kurt R. Fischer of Burton, age 76, passed away Aug 16, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1pm Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at Heritage United Church of Christ, 7074 Davison Rd, Davison, Rev. Jim James officiating. Burial will follow in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm Tue and 2-4 & 6-8pm Wed at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd, Davison. One hour of visitation prior to the service on Thu at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage United Church of Christ or ALS of Michigan, Inc.
Kurt was born in Detroit, MI on Aug 22, 1933, son of the late Kurt E. and Helen Fischer. He was raised in the Lum/Lapeer area.
Kurt served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955. He married Mary Louise Toth on Nov 4, 1961 in Detroit, MI and they resided in Burton.
Kurt was a member of the Heritage United Church of Christ. He was employed by Henry Vroom, United and Overland Trucking before retiring as a Teamster in 1991. Kurt enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling.
Kurt is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Louise; son, Kurt L. (Fiance Kim Christopher); daughter, Karen (Keith) Knickerbocker; grandchildren, Christopher, Kristin, Kory, Paige, and Scott; brothers, Kenneth (Marilyn) and Edward (Elmeretta); several nephews and many dear friends.
