Mrs. Kittie M. Wheeler, 74, of Fife Lake, died Sat, Jul 6, 1996, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mrs. Wheeler resided in Grand Rapids where she was employed by General Motors until moving to Kalkaska and Fife Lake area in 1980. She was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Born in Grand Traverse County on Nov 13, 1921, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Green Merritt. On May 21, 1983, in Kalkaska, she married Fay Wheeler who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sherry McGowan of Wyoming; five stepdaughters, Janet Malley, Sherry Burke, and Sandra Schutt all of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Berneke of TX, and Gloria Bidwell of Coldwater; one brother, Walter Merritt of Dade City, FL; four sisters, Phyllis Johnson of Ypsilanti, Freida Tomes of FL, Ruth Johnson of Garden City, and Maxine Merritt of AZ; 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
One brother, Louis, and one sister, Violet, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges officiated. Burial was in Grandville Cemetery, Grandville, MI.
