Kenneth Richard Ort, 51, died at 3:30 am Wednesday at his home, 221 East Green St. Although, Mr. Ort had been in failing health for some time, his death was unexpected.
A pharmacist by trade, Mr. Ort had been assisting his wife and his son-in-law and daughter in the operation of the Side Track Inn on West High Street since its recent opening. He was a member of F&A.M. Lodge No 600, Montpelier, and the Christian Church in Hartford City.
Surviving besides the wife, Treva, and his father, William Ort of Hartford City; the daughter, Sharon, wife of Robert Ables, Montpelier; and two sons, Wallis, stationed at the Naval Base in Memphis, TN, and Richard, at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fred Spaulding and Mrs. Harry Atkinson of Hartford City, and a brother, Charles Ort of Garrett.
The body will remain at the Walker Funeral Home where friends may call afternoon Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm, Friday in the Christian Church, Hartford City, with the Rev CH Hanson, Pastor of the church, and Roger Rankin of Montpelier officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, east of Montpelier.
