Kenneth L. Rowell, 77, of Kalkaska died Thu, May 28, 1992 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Rowell owned Rowell's Saddle Shop, which was recently honored by the WEMA for 25 years of service. He was employed as a guard at Camp Grayling and retired in 1979. Mr. Rowell and his wife Marjie developed a farm in Excelsior Township, Kalkaska County, where they resided.
Kenneth LeRoy Rowell was born at home in Brant Township, Saginaw County, on Dec 16, 1914, to Lyman Ray and Mae (Easlick) Rowell. He spent his early childhood in Brant and Evert, and moved to Kalkaska, with his family, while still a youth.
On May 10, 1935, in Kalkaska, he married Marjorie Alberta Mosher, who preceded him in death on Feb 6, 1979. On Jun 17, 1987, he married Evelyn Ruffer of Rapid City, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Jane Marie) Hill of Kalkaska; three brothers, Gerald of Muskegon, and Wilson and Woodrow both of Kalkaska; two sisters, Carrie Honnaman of Merrill and Dorothy Robinson of Harrietta; and three grandchildren, Zabrina, Jordan, and Courtney all of Kalkaska.
Two sons, Michael and Charles died in infancy. Two sisters, Mildred Rowell of Kalkaska and Ethel Spence of Evart, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Sat, May 30, 1992 at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Michael Steere, pastor of the Spencer Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's Long Term Care Unit or to the Cancer Society.
