Kenneth D. Thornburg, 76, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, passed away Aug 7, 2009, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth was born Apr 12, 1933, in Kalkaska, the son of the late Dewey and Zelma (Lewis) Thornburg.
Ken was a veteran, serving in the US Army during the Korean War.
He married Barbara Hittle. Ken retired from the Kalkaska County Courthouse after years of service.
He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. Ken also attended the Coldsprings Christian Fellowship Church.
Ken is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Patricia (Steve) Eisler, of South Boardman, Kenneth Thornburg, Jr. of Bellaire, Elizabeth Hodgson of Muskegon, and Diana (Brent) Bontrager, Dale (Monica) Thornburg, Kathy Davis, Lynn Robinson, and Kurt Thornburg, all of Kalkaska.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and his siblings, Darwin (Jean) Thornburg, Wilma (Melvin) Lindhal, and Ronald (Judy) Thornburg.
Preceding Ken in death were his siblings, Ruth Ann Thornburg, Esther Sherwood, and Walter Thornburg.
A memorial service honoring Ken's life was held Mon, Aug 10, at 11 am at the Coldsprings Christian Fellowship Church. Pastor Brent Bontager officiated the proceedings.
