Military services for Sgt. Kenneth A. Grove, 22, of Gladwin, were held Mon, Nov 17, at 1:30pm from the Gladwin Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Allen officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. Sgt. Grove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Grove, of Gladwin, was killed in action in Vietnam on Tue, November 4. He was the country’s fourth victim of the war in Vietnam.
The young sergeant was a member of the 4th Military Police Co., 4th Inf. Div., stationed in Vietnam. He entered the service on March 6, 1968 and left for Vietnam on Jan 28, 1969. He would have completed his military tour of duty in Vietnam around the end of Jan. While in Vietnam, Sgt. Grove received the Army Commendation Medal May 8, for exceptionally meritorious achievement in the Republic of Vietnam in connection with military operations against an armed hostile force. He was also chosen as 4th Infantry Division Soldier of the Week. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Carol Ann and Paula Kay. The Miner-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
