Kayle Gilmore Doty, 92, of Rapid City, died peacefully Oct 16, 1999, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct 6, 1907, in DeWitt, the son of Chester Lee and Myrtle (Gilmore) Doty. On Dec 9, 1932, in Lansing, he married Agnes A. Harris.
Kayle was a veteran of WWII and served with the U.S. Army.
A retired automobile mechanic, Kayle had been a resident of the Torch Lake area since 1972 after moving from Lansing. He was a member of Alden United Methodist Church, the Antique Clock Dealers Association, and the Michigan Gas Dealers Association. He owned and operated Doty's Antiques at Shingle Shack on South Torch Lake with his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Agnes; daughters Marilyn Doty Larson of Torch Lake and Lois (John) Doty Gucclone of Godfrey, IL; grandchildren Malinda Larson of Haslett, Laura (Steven) Larson Panganis of Okemos, Erik (Kelly) Doty Larson of Haslett, Kayle Benedix of Devor, CA, and Sara Baker (Ramey) of Collinsville, IL; and great grandchildren Madelyn Jae Panganis and Megan Hunt.
Kayle was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Myrtle Doty; brother Loy Doty; sister Erma Rounds; and grandson Mark Benedix.
Services were Oct 19 at Alden United Methodist Church; Rev Wayne Gorsline officiated.
