CHEBOYGAN - Kathleen Beth Clark, 80, of Cheboygan, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Cheboygan on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
She was born to Roy and Bessie (Nutter) Snell on Dec. 12, 1927 in Flint, Mich. She graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1945 and Cheboygan County Normal in 1947. Kathleen taught at the Aloha Schoolhouse in Afton, and at St. Mary's Elementary School in Cheboygan.
She married Harry Clark on Feb. 25, 1949, in Cheboygan.
During her lifetime she worked as a waitress and hostess at Pierre's. She also cashiered at the A&P grocery story in Cheboygan for several years and worked for Don Woiderski Tax Accounting as a bookkeeper for 13 years.
Besides working and caring for her family, Kathleen volunteered at St. Paul's Methodist Church, the Lord's Kitchen and the Cheboygan County Historical Museum, and was a longtime member of the Cheboygan Lioness Club. Some of her favorite past times included playing cards and working in her yard.
Kathleen had four beautiful and healthy children. Two boys and two girls, the perfect family, she always said. She is survived by her daughter Candy of Cheboygan, son-in-law Larry Wood and grandsons Kristopher, Casey, Clark and finacee Jolene Landry, and great-granddaughter Lily Anne Wood; her daughter Pam of Bloomington, Ind., son-in-law Darrell Jerden and granddaughters Jenna of Indianapolis, and Kara of Savannah, Ga.; her son, Craig Clark of Cheboygan, granddaughter Kelsey of Lansing, Mich., and grandsons Jess and Riley of Sonoma, Calif. Her son Kelly Clark of Bloomington preceded her in death. Kathleen also leaves her sisters, Fern Schryer of Cheboygan and Redington Shores, Fla.; and Karon Edington, her husband, Tevis, of Clermont, Fla. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rugene Snell of Gaylord, Mich.; and her husband, Harry Clark, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathleen was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She had strong faith and thanked the Lord for his care and blessings.
There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Kathleen wishes were to have any donations in her name to be given to Hospice House or St. Paul's Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Nordman Funeral Home in Cheboygan and at the church the day of the service.
