Katherine "Kay" DePeel, 81 of Kalkaska, left this life on Monday, December 1, 2008 to go home to her Heavenly Father. She was born on December 25, 1926 in Cadillac, the daughter of the late Francis and Lottie (McLaughlin) Bluer.
Kay was the loving mother of Dawn (Allen) Triplett of Kalkaska, Donna (John) Nyboer of Chipley, Florida, Dale (Paula) DePeel of Rochester, Minnesota, Daryl DePeel of McPherson, Kansas, Duke (Dawn) DePeel of South Boardman and Susan (John) Folsom of Atlanta; the devoted grandmother to 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; the cherished sister of Joyce Adkisson of Manton and Donald Cornell of Cadillac.
Kay grew up in the Grand Rapids and Lansing areas and visited Kalkaska often. It was there she met her future husband, Donald B. DePeel and they married on December 24, 1949 in Lansing. Kay enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ. Kay was a woman of great strength and faith.
Preceding Kay in death was her husband, Donald in 2007; her sister, Clara Tompkins; and her brother Francis Bluer, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Kalkaska Church of Christ with Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
