Karen Kay Whitaker, of Cement City, MI passed away at the University of Michigan Health Systems Monday, Jul 28, 2014 at the age of 60. She was the daughter of Jack Eugene and Juna Mae (Aldridge) Moses born Aug 19, 1953 in Jackson, MI. Karen is survived by two daughters, Kindra (Jeff) Padgett and Lindsey (Matthew) Hazzard of Durham, NC; five grandchildren, Camden, Logen, Kaylin and Anddison Padgett, and Juliana Hazzard; her parents; brother, Greg (Judy) Moses; fiance, Rick Rutledge; several extended family members and dear friends. She was a 1972 graduate of Northwest High School; employee of the University of Michigan Health Systems for over 17 years as an Administrative Office Professional. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, antiquing, canvas painting, gardening, and baking. She was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church Thu, Jul 31, at 11 am; Reverend Mark VanValin officiating; interment Woodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. The family will receive friends at the church from10 am until the time of service at 11 am.
