Julia Marlin Jay Armstrong died Thu, Jun 13, 1996, at her home near Kalkaska.
She was born the daughter of Burton Louis and Carrie Agnes (Lamson) Marlin. She married Lloyd Jay on Dec 22, 1956 in Midland. He died on Jun 22, 1985 in Midland. On Dec 10, 1989, in Kalkaska, she married Walter Armstrong, He survives.
Julia live din the Kalkaska area for 35 years. She was a member of the Blue Lake Township Election Board, Starvation Lake Yacht Club, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska, and Lydia's Circle. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, entertaining guests and birdwatching.
She is also survived by stepdaughters Sally Voorhees of Comstock Park, Mary (John) Hadley of Deer Trail, CO, and Patty (Terry) Benedict of Tecumseh; stepsons Gary (Colleen) Armstrong of Tecumseh, Doug (Pat) Armstrong of Britton, Walter (Amy) Armstrong III of Saline, and John (Annette) Armstrong of Tecumseh; 14 grandchildren; brother Burton (Joan) Marlin of Lansing; and two special nieces, Barbara (Leonard) Clark of Grand Blanc and Terri (Jay) Horn of Lansing. She was also preceded in death by brother William Marlin in 1992.
Funeral services were held Jun 17 at the Paullin-Penzien Funeral Home in Mancelona. Rev. Ted N. Turanski of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska officiated with interment following at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Memorials may be given to the Grand Traverse Hospice, 1105 Sixth St., Traverse City, or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kalkaska.
