Julia Roop, 83, of Kingsley, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 9, 1923, in Missaukee County, to Adolphus and Nellie (Smith) Aldridge. On May 26, 1943, she married the late Edward Roop; they spent the remainder of their live in the Kingsley area.
Julia enjoyed family gatherings, games, dancing, and life in general.
She is survived by daughters, Fran (Ed) Osborne of Muir and Kay (Alan) Birgy of Charlotte; grandsons, Ken (Sandy) Birgy, Dave (Kathi) Osborne, Mark (Hannah) Birgy, Dan (Pam) Osborne, and Andy (Aleisha) Birgy; loves of her life, 10-great grandchildren, Amanda, Miranda, Tyler, Dylan, Brittney, Madison, Luke, Haley, Emily and Gabe; brothers, Basil (Wynola), Eb (Betty), Dolph (Dovie); sister Donna Martin; many loved nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; brothers, Mancle and Tom; sisters Ruth Roop, Varden Akers and Clarice Hicks.
A visitation for Julia will take place Tuesday, May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home, with Pastor Char Minger officiating.
Memorial contributions in Julia’s name may be made to the Commission on Aging.
