Judith (Judy) M Briggs, 75, of Cundy’s Harbor Road, died Wed, Jun 3, 2015, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Brunswick on Mar 12, 1940, the daughter of Ralph and Christine Holbrook Miller. She attended Harpswell schools and was a 1957 graduate of Brunswick High School.
On Jan 17, 1959, she married Daniel L Briggs. She was a proud Navy wife and a strong, loving mother. She worked at various places in the area, such as the Navy Exchange, Sears, the Brunswick Post Office, and the Times Record.
She enjoyed playing cribbage on Wednesday nights with the crew at the Block and Tackle and loved playing cards with her family. She loved her monthly “high school reunion” with the girls from Brunswick High School. One of her favorite activities in recent years was going to the casino with Dan and she was quite lucky with the slot machines. She always loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She volunteered at the soup kitchen at Mid Coast Hunger Prevention for the last seven years and felt strongly about the services they provided to the area. She was active in the Cundy’s Harbor Fire Department Auxiliary for several years.
Surviving Judy are her husband of 56 years, Dan’ and her three children, Craig H Briggs of York, Rick D. and his wife, Janice Briggs of Manchester, NH, and Lisa Briggs-Williams and her husband Dale of Bowdoin. Judy is also leaving behind her sister, Joanne Alexander of Cundy’s Harbor, and her brother Joseph Miller and his wife, Sue also of Cundy’s Harbor. Judy is also going to be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Sat, Jun 13, at 1 pm at the Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St, Brunswick, with the Rev. Veronica Gonsior officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow the memorial service at the Cundy’s Harbor Community Hall.
