Joe VanWagoner, age 58, of Ponce De Leon, FL passed away Mar 8, 2009. He was born Sept 9, 1950 in Pontiac, MI to Ralph and Carolyn VanWagoner.
Mr. VanWagoner was Baptist by faith and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Ponce De Leon. He worked for 27 years at Vortex Springs as a manager and Scuba Diving instructor. He also worked as an engineer in offshore oil drilling for over 10 years. He loved hunting, collecting guns, golfing, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Mr. VanWagoner was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Van Wagoner.
Mr. VanWagoner is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Joy S. VanWagoner; his mother Carolyn Bates and husband Newton of New Jersey; Step-mother Beatrice VanWagoner of Harbor Beach, MI; one son Christopher George VanWagoner and wife Jamie; two step sons Jim Locke and wife Barbara and Bob Locke and wife Anissa all of Ponce De Leon; one step daughter Kathy Register and husband Steve of Starke, FL; one brother Terry VanWagoner and wife Beverly of MI; one nephew Todd VanWagoner; one niece Julie; one granddaughter Rylee VanWagoner; seven step-grandchildren, Jaime Lyn Register, Christopher Register, Griff Register, Alysa Locke, Jacob Locke, Keaton Locke and Ashton Locke.
A time of visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Ave, DeFuniak springs, FL. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am, Wed, Mar 11, 2009 at Northside Baptist Church; 2835 North Highway 81, Ponce De Leon, FL, 32455, with Reverend Kenneth Harrison officiating.
