Joseph E Maidens Sr, 72, a resident of Fife Lake for the past 18 years, died Sat, May 12, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Maidens resided in New Haven before moving to Fife Lake. He had been employed by Chrysler Corp., and later worked as a chef at the Grand Traverse Resort. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was born in Manistee County on Jan 18, 1929, the son of George and Anna Marie (Hoffman) Maidens. He married Mary Allor in Mt. Clemens on Sept 9, 1950.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; sons Joseph Jr and George Maidens, both of Fife Lake; daughters, Mary Jane Maidens of California and Karen Sue Barnes of Mt Clemens; brothers Herbert of Mt Clemens and Robert of Indiana; sisters Gladys Jerome and Clara McKenzie, both of Kaleva, and Lillian Oakley of St Johns; 14 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother, William and sister, Eileen.
Funeral services were May 15 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Father Jim Holtz officiated. Cremation followed funeral services.
