John "Jack" Waters, 75, of Kalkaska, passed away on Feb 8, 2022, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
He was born Mar 6, 1926, in Battle Creek, the son of Albert and Dorothy (Herbert) Waters.
Jack was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Navy on the YMS 179 Mine Sweeper.
He married Geraldine D Snyder on Nov 23, 1946, in Battle Creek. Jack retired from the VA Hospital as a firefighter crew chief after 37 years of service. Jack and Geraldine moved to Kalkaska in 1979. Jack was instrumental in organizing the Coldsprings/Excelsior Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Kalkaska United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jack is survived by his loving family, including his wife Geraldine of 55 years; daughter Janet (Bernie) Kores of Kalkaska; sister Isabel Jean Helper of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Erika Kores, Jared Kores, and Meghan Kores; great granddaughter, Lauren Kores; and niece Cynthia (Ronald) Treadwell of Battle Creek.
Funeral services were Feb 12 at the Wolfe Funeral Home; Rev Robert Stark of the Kalkaska Methodist Church officiated. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be given on behalf of Jack Waters to the Kalkaska United Methodist Church or donors choice.
