John W. Jack Waldron, age 82 of Burt Lake passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs.
He was born November 3, 1931 in Petoskey, the son of Charles Wallace and Dora Ione (McMichael) Waldron. He attended school at Burt Lake and Indian River and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1948. In 1949, Jack joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953.
On June 2, 1962, Jack married Irene Rene Shurkey and they had two children, Karen and Gary. Jack and Rene later divorced. On October 26, 1975, Jack married Nancy Hoke-Wolf. Jack and Nancy resided at Burt Lake where he was a partner in Far Hills Construction Co. They spent many weekends exploring the Upper Peninsula. He enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, gardening and birding. He was active in the Burt Lake community and helped out whenever needed.
Besides his wife Nancy, Jack is survived by his son, Gary (Thett) of Mesa, AZ, his stepchildren, Frank Wolf of Gallitan, TN, Mark Wolf of Broken Arrow, OK, Fred (Debbie) Wolf of Indianapolis, IN and Lisa (John) Schofield of Burt Lake, two sisters, Helen Tull of Libertyville, IL and Frances Campbell of Deep Creek, FL and nine grandchildren, Nikki, Victoria and Jake Waldron, Ali and Zack Robinson, Keegan and Cameron Wolf and E.J. and Elizabeth Wolf. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Waldron, his step-son, Ed Wolf, a grandchild, Eli Waldron, two sisters, Mary Betty McDonald and Shirley Billings and five brothers, Irvin Bud, William Bill, James, Charles and David.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Burt Lake Christian Church. Memorial contributions in Jacks name may be directed to the Burt Lake Christian Church/Community Club or the Waldron Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 275, Burt Lake, MI 49717. Arrangements are being handled by the Lintz Funeral Home.
